Welcome to Cougar Pets!

Looking for a new furry best friend? You've come to the right place! Cougar Pets is a local animal rescue with a unique twist — our cuddly critters live on the Central Carolina Community College Lee Main Campus as part of the Veterinary Medical Technology (VMT) program.

Here’s the heartwarming part: while our animals wait for their forever homes, they’re helping future veterinary heroes learn essential skills! From cuddles to care, these furry friends teach VMT students about love, compassion, and expert animal care.

Adopting from Cougar Pets means you’re not just gaining a loyal companion — you’re also supporting the next generation of vet techs and giving a second chance to an animal that deserves it.

So, what are you waiting for? Your new best friend is just a paw away!

Take home your perfect match today!

Please note that since we are regulated by the USDA, we are unable to accept owner surrenders from the general public. We are required to obtain our animals from a shelter. When we transfer animals out of shelter situations, we are not only providing invaluable education for our students, but we are also helping to save lives by freeing up much needed space, and giving dogs and cats a second chance at adoption. We rescue dogs and cats from high-kill environments and take them into our colony so that they can receive medical care and socialization until they are adopted.

Though we are registered as a research facility with the USDA, we never do any research on our animals.

All of our animals are rescued from shelters, and all are adoptable. In addition, they are up-to-date on vaccines, spayed/neutered, and micro-chipped.

Already found your best friend? Fill out an application online! Please allow up to 2 weeks for your application to be processed.

Note: Rats and rabbits are available for adoption in the month of June. Message us for more details.
