Student Checklists For Central Carolina Promise/K14

Students must meet certain requirements to qualify for the Promise/K14 program, which can provide funding for the two years immediately following their high school graduation. For example, June 2024 high school graduates will have program eligibility for Year 1 (Fall 2024, Spring 2025, and Summer 2025) and Year 2 (Fall 2025 and Spring 2026). Students who do not meet these requirements will not be considered for Promise/K14 funding.

All students in the Promise/K14 program must maintain good academic standing. Participants are subject to all college policies related to financial aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).

*Priority Deadline Information

Students who complete all required items by the posted priority deadlines will have their program status confirmed by August 1 (annually).

Students who do not complete all required items by the priority deadlines can still be considered for the program, but may not be fully approved to receive funding until after the start of classes. Students in this situation may have to pay out of their own pocket up front or risk being dropped for non-payment. Students who are not qualified by August 1 are encouraged to set up a Deferred Payment Plan.

New Students (Year One) Must

New students can verify their checklist progress by logging into their Success Hub.

Students must apply to the Promise/K14 program; they cannot be admitted automatically. This application differs from the admissions application (see below) and should be submitted as soon as possible--don't delay!

Students will need to apply online:

  • Log in using your CCCC credentials (or create an account, if you do not have one already).
  • Select "Start New Application," then "K14" as the application type, and then the correct cohort year of your graduation. Click "Create Application."

*Priority Deadline: ASAP

  • Complete the CCCC Scholarship Application to apply for local scholarships.
  • Include a letter of recommendation from a high school teacher, college instructor, or non-family member, and a brief essay explaining your career goals, community involvement, and any additional information concerning your financial need.
  • Only completed applications will be considered.

*Priority Deadline: July 1 (annually)

  • The FAFSA is required for all Central Carolina Promise/K14 applicants. The FAFSA application can be accessed and completed online.
  • CCCC's FAFSA Code is 005449. If you do not provide the code on your FAFSA application, the FAFSA will not connect to CCCC and will be considered incomplete.

*Priority Deadline: July 1 (annually)

  • The Financial Aid Office will contact you regarding the status of your FAFSA.
  • Emails will be sent to your Cougarmail account and the list of items needed will also be available in your Self-Service account.
  • You must submit all documents requested by the Financial Aid Office in order to be eligible for the Promise/K14 program.

*Priority Deadline: July 1 (annually)

  • Visit NC Residency Determination Service to obtain your Residency Certification Number (RCN). Your RCN is used to determine both your tuition rate and eligibility for state grants.
  • Your admissions application (Step 6) cannot be processed without completing this step.

*Priority Deadline: Third Friday in July (annually)

  • Complete your CCCC application online.
  • If you have taken college classes in high school through Career & College Promise, you will need to re-apply to CCCC in order to continue your enrollment after graduation.
  • You should be sure to include your correct social security number on your admissions application. Failure to include a SSN on the application will result in CCCC not receiving your FAFSA information and your Promise/K14 enrollment being delayed or denied.

*Priority Deadline: Third Friday in July (annually)

  • Contact your high school to send official transcripts directly to the Admissions Office after your high school graduation or request an official transcript through CFNC. All transcripts sent prior to graduation will be considered unofficial.
