The Fire Academy is designed to prepare entry-level individuals with the cognitive and physical skills needed to become certified firefighters in North Carolina. The fire academy contains the most current information available and concludes with a comprehensive written exam and skills testing.

Upon completion of the Fire Academy, cadets will receive the following International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) certifications through the North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal, and the Fire and Rescue Commission: Firefighter 1 & 2, Emergency Vehicle Driver (EVD), HazMat, Technical Rescue, NIMS (National Incident Management System), TIMS (Traffic Incident Management System), Vehicle Rescue.
