Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF III – ARP)
An acknowledgement to assist students with emergency needs that have arisen due to the pandemic Congress passed the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARP) on March 11, 2021. CCCC has been allocated over $3,692,719 in emergency student aid through a HEERF III Grant (the grant).
CCCC will allocate $3,692,719 of HEERF III funding to student aid. This funding will be distributed to qualified undergraduate, workforce continuing education and career and college readiness students. HEERF grants for students may be used for any component of the student's cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care) or child care.
Eligibility Requirements For a Student To Receive HEERF III Grant
According to the ARP and guidance from the Department of Education, the following factors played a pivotal role in CCCC's decision for awarding these funds:
- Unlike the CARES Act, the ARP requires that institutions prioritize students with exceptional need, for example but not limited to such students who receive Pell Grants
- Students must be enrolled in a degree seeking or certificate program during the Fall 2021 semester; or be a Workforce Continuing Education or College Career Readiness student enrolled during the Fall 2021 semester
Students are only awarded HEERF (I/II/III) funds one time an academic year. We know that for many students, the grant funding is not enough. Please visit CCCC Cares website for more information regarding receiving further assistance.
Grant Funds Can Be Used For The Following Types Of Needs
This fund intends to provide emergency grants to help students meet urgent, basic needs such as:
- Tuition/Fees
- Food
- Housing
- Health care (including mental health care)
- Child care
Application
COVID-19 Relief/HEERF funds are no longer available. The aid has been terminated by the U.S. Department of Education. Therefore, the applications are no longer available.
Awarded Amounts
These funds will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. ARP required the institution to give priority to students with "exceptional need". Priority will be given to students receiving the Federal Pell Grant. The amount awarded will be based on the tiered approach established below:
Curriculum Students
Student Groups | Full-Time (12+) | Three-Quarter Time (9-11) | Half-Time (6-8) | Less-Than-Half-Time (1-5) |
---|---|---|---|---|
Estimated Family Contribution: $0 | $2,500 | $2,000 | $1,500 | $1,000 |
Estimated Family Contribution: $1-$5,846 | $2,000 | $1,500 | $1,000 | $500 |
Estimated Family Contribution: $5,847 and higher | $500 | $275 | $250 | $125 |
Disbursement of Funds
The disbursements will follow the methodology of awarded amounts shown in the table above.
Funds will be disbursed on a biweekly basis via paper checks mailed to eligible students. The full award will be disbursed to students regardless of whether they owe a balance to the school. All eligible students will have a check sent to the CURRENT address listed on their student account. If a student's address is not currently up to date, the student will need to contact the Registrar's Office directly to update the address on file.
