To assist students with emergency needs that have arisen due to the pandemic Congress passed the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA) on December 27, 2020. CCCC has been allocated over $1,211,050 in emergency student aid through a HEERF II Grant (the grant).

CCCC will allocate $1,211,050 of HEERF II funding to student aid, the same amount as was allocated to student aid under the CARES Act (HEERF I). This funding will be distributed to qualified undergraduate, workforce continuing education and career and college readiness students. HEERF grants for students may be used for any component of the student's cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care) or child care.

Eligibility Requirements For a Student To Receive HEERF Grant

According to the CRRSAA and guidance from the Department of Education, the following factors played a pivotal role in CCCC's decision for awarding these funds:

  • Unlike the CARES Act, the CRRSAA requires that institutions prioritize students with exceptional need, for example but not limited to such students who receive Pell Grants
  • Students must be enrolled in a degree seeking or certificate program during the Spring 2021 semester; or be a Workforce Continuing Education or College Career Readiness student enrolled during the Spring 2021 semester

Students are only awarded HEERF (I/II) funds one time an academic year. We know that for many students, the grant funding is not enough. Please visit CCCC Cares website for more information regarding receiving further assistance.

Application

COVID-19 Relief/HEERF funds are no longer available. The aid has been terminated by the U.S. Department of Education. Therefore, the applications are no longer available.

Grant Funds Can Be Used For The Following Types Of Needs

This fund intends to provide emergency grants to help students meet urgent, basic needs such as:

  • Tuition/Fees
  • Food
  • Housing
  • Health care (including mental health care)
  • Child care

Awarded Amounts

These funds will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. CRRSAA required the institution to give priority to students with "exceptional need". Priority will be given to students receiving the Federal Pell Grant. The amount awarded will be based on the tiered approach established below:

Workforce Continuing Education/Career and College Readiness Students

Table showing HEERF award amounts for continuing education students
Student Groups Amount
Workforce Continuing Education $500
Career and College Readiness $750

Curriculum Students

Table showing amount of tiered HEERF amounts awarded to curriculum students
Student Groups Full Time (12+) Three-Quarter Time (9-11) Half-Time (6-8) Less-than-half-time (1-5)
Estimated Family Contribution: $0 $1,000 $750 $500 $250
Estimated Family Contribution: $1-$5,576 $750 $563 $375 $188
Estimated Family Contribution: $5,577 and higher $500 $375 $250 $225

Disbursement of Funds

The disbursements will follow the methodology of awarded amounts shown in the table above.

Funds will be disbursed on a weekly basis via paper checks mailed to eligible students. The full award will be disbursed to students regardless of whether they owe a balance to the school. All eligible students will have a check sent to the CURRENT address listed on their student account. If a student's address is not currently up to date, the student will need to contact the Registrar's Office directly to update the address on file.
