Applied Technologies & Manufacturing in Continuing Education

Applied Technologies involve the development and implementation of innovative solutions to improve efficiency, productivity, safety, or sustainability. Areas include: manufacturing processes, software development, medical devices, renewable energy technologies, transportation systems, and more.

Offerings

The Agricultural and Natural Resources program includes courses in sustainable agriculture, animals, farming, and protection and treatment of our natural resources.  These courses prepare students for careers working on farms, ranches, orchards, greenhouses, nurseries, and even wastewater treatment facilities.  The goal of the program is to improve the quality and safety of our food, cultivation and preservation of natural resources, and caring for animals. Courses in this area often include hands-on experiences and demonstrations to enrich the student learning experience.

Are you eager to begin a career in the Automotive & Transportation industry? Maybe you love to repair engines, do bodywork, or maybe you have the drive to sell the latest in automobiles. We offer a wide variety of automotive and transportation courses, including: Vehicle Safety Inspection, OBD, CDL,  and Escort Driver that will give you the skills to meet whatever goal you have set.

The Biotechnology and Life Sciences program provides practical, hands-on learning and familiarity with cutting-edge techniques, technologies, and equipment. Students learn the basic skills required to become trained process technicians for biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and chemical companies. Through classroom instruction and laboratory work, students are prepared to enter the workforce and learn company operations and tasks. In our three-county service area, there are a vast number of major biomanufacturing and pharmaceutical companies and biosciences-related industries.

Learn to be a skilled machine operator/technician. Our courses are based on industry and education partnerships to ensure students have the right set of skills to be industry ready. Students spend most of their time in class doing hands-on learning so that you’ll be prepared for real-world scenarios in various manufacturing settings. Students will learn how manufacturing components interact with each other to make the whole system run efficiently. Course topics include: safety, quality practices and measurement, manufacturing processes and production, and maintenance awareness.

Our OSHA courses provide an orientation to occupational safety and health in general industry and construction work settings. Students will learn OSHA's best practices for reducing accidents and injuries, including fall protection, emergency evacuation plans, and the use of personal protective equipment. Students also learn about the major hazards one might encounter in general industry work and solutions for recognizing, controlling, and protecting against them. Upon successful completion of a course, students are issued OSHA wallet cards.
