Adult Basic Education

Adult Basic Education is a program of instruction designed to address the educational needs of adults seeking improvement in reading and mathematics, oral and written communication, and critical thinking skills. Adult learners enroll in Adult Basic Education to improve skills for the workplace, achieve personal goals, and/or prepare for enrollment in one of the college's high school equivalent programs.

  • Classes are FREE! 
  • Face-to-face classes are available in Chatham, Harnett, and Lee counties. 
  • Classes are offered in the mornings and in the evenings.
  • Minors, 16 or 17 years of age, must complete the Minor Release Information Packet prior to attending a registration session.

Bridge to Earning, Learning & Living (B.E.L.L Academy)

The B.E.L.L Academy program provides specialized education for adults with a diagnosed intellectual disability. Eligible students learn to become more independent and self-directing through instruction that teaches basic literacy, life and daily living skills.

To be eligible for B.E.L.L Academy, you must: 

  • Have a documented diagnosis of an intellectual disability. 
  • Have the ability to complete an assessment and be able to show progress to remain in the program.
