Moore Center Overview

Situated at Central Carolina Community College's (CCCC) Lee Main Campus, the E. Eugene Moore Manufacturing and Biotech Solutions Center (Moore Center) finds itself amidst a rapidly growing economic landscape. In a radius of one hour from the center, there exist over 104,000 established manufacturing positions, with an additional 16,800+ jobs announced in the past 24 months alone. Noteworthy among these are 7,500 roles with VinFast and 1,800 positions with Wolfspeed, both falling within CCCC's service jurisdiction. This surge in development has continued with new industries like Kyowa Kirin announcing in the region as well as the growth of Pfizer and the continued strength of companies like Caterpillar and others positively impacting the region.

The Moore Center is positioned to effectively tackle the employment demands of North Carolina's present and future employers through a concentrated effort on three primary objectives:

  • Attracting and developing the next wave of skilled workers for the manufacturing sector.
  • Offering training in cutting-edge manufacturing technologies to bolster both current and forthcoming manufacturing and biotechnology landscapes.
  • Establishing a top-tier resource in North Carolina, capable of propelling future economic growth by supporting and enticing the businesses of tomorrow.

In addition to addressing immediate and crucial regional workforce requirements, the Moore Center will drive regional economic advancement, showcasing North Carolina's capacity to draw in, educate, and retain a top-notch workforce.

The establishment of the Center was made feasible by Lee County's acquisition of a 22-acre former manufacturing site. Initial investment for the project is sourced from a combination of private donations and pending grant applications.
