Moore Center Advancing Manufacturing Skills

The Moore Center is dedicated to bridging the gap between traditional manufacturing skills and the demands of modern, advanced manufacturing environments in the 21st century.

Central Carolina Community College stands at the forefront of preparing candidates for these opportunities while simultaneously cultivating a pipeline of skilled workers for the future. Whether it's sparking the interest of an elementary student in robotics or equipping an adult learner with proficiency in 3D printing, the Moore Center will serve as a hub for engaging, preparing, and training both the current and future workforce of the region.

Engaging Youth in Manufacturing Careers: The Moore Center will provide an opportunity to engage young people in activities to investigate  the diverse career opportunities available in manufacturing.  Students will be exposed to modern manufacturing facilities and technologies through interactive experiences such as tours, showcases, and camps. Partnering with local high schools and the North Carolina Career and College Promise program allows high school students to take classes at the center for free, increasing their exposure to advanced manufacturing careers.

Recruiting Adult Learners: Training programs at the Moore Center will offer a pathway for individuals to transition from low-paying, low-skilled positions to rewarding and upwardly mobile careers. Collaborations with local workforce development boards, NC Works, and community non-profits help attract adults seeking career changes. Additionally, CCCC's College and Career Readiness programs, along with the Department of Labor funded YouthBuild program, serve as additional avenues for recruiting adults and young adults. Work-based learning, internships, and apprenticeships ensure learners gain hands-on experience tailored to their chosen career paths.

Incumbent Worker Training: Recognizing the importance of upskilling current employees, the Moore Center offers Customized Industry Training programs to meet the evolving needs of regional industries. These training programs can be customized to address specific organizational needs, covering topics such as work environment, quality control, technical skills, safety, and leadership.

The Moore Center's state-of-the-art technology and equipment, and collaborative spaces will serve as a beacon for showcasing pathways to advanced manufacturing careers for individuals of all ages and backgrounds, from youth exploring their interests to incumbent workers seeking career advancement.
