Coach Briggs led the Cougars to their first-ever Cross Country Region 10 Championship in 2021 and has also trained two runners who have been named Runners of the Year for Region 10. Coach Briggs is entering his 4th year as head coach for the Cougars.
Richard served as an assistant coach at Fayetteville State University for Jamaican Olympian Inez Turner's cross country squad 2017-2018. He directed the middle and long distance athletes for the Broncos as well as assisting the staff with daily operations and recruiting efforts. He helped establish Fayetteville's first Track and Field program.
Before joining the FSU staff, he worked as an assistant coach for Matthew Van Lierop at the University of Mount Olive. In four years with the Trojans, he was a part of 15 Conference Carolinas championships, setting multiple school records and qualifying several athletes for Nationals. In those four years, the women's team was undefeated.
