Step 1 - Overview

Central Carolina YouthBuild is a paid alternative education program where participants are able to pursue their GED/Adult High School Diploma and enter a career pathway that will lead to an industry-recognized credential. The program also includes leadership development and community service opportunities that allow participants to put the skills they are learning into practice. Additionally, the program will award students stipends and supports as they participate in these activities.

Participants must meet the following qualifications:

  • Be between the ages of 16-24 years, at the time of enrollment
  • Have dropped out of school
  • Be registered with Selective Service (18 and over)
  • Meet one or more of the following:
    • member of a low income family
    • a youth in foster care (or aging/aged out)
    • involved in juvenile/criminal justice system
    • an individual with a disability
    • a child of an incarcerated parent
    • a migrant individual
