SANFORD - Tamara Joyner, Director of Financial Services/Controller, has been named Central Carolina Community College's Staff Member of the Year for 2017-2018.

She was a finalist for the N.C. Community College System Staff of the Year award.

"Central Carolina Community College is proud to have Ms. Joyner, whose professionalism and leadership set an important standard of excellence for our business office and the entire college community," said CCCC President Dr. T.E. Marchant.

Dr. Phillip Price, CCCC's Vice President for Administrative Services, said Ms. Joyner is an outstanding leader and has been a driving force behind numerous improvements at the College.

"Ms. Joyner makes excellent, well thought-out decisions and consistently provides a positive attitude toward tasks at hand," said Dr. Price. "She consistently ensures her financial reports are on time and accurate. Ms. Joyner has a wealth of knowledge related to community college financial operations and is a true asset to Central Carolina Community College."

Dr. Brian S. Merritt, CCCC Vice President of Learning & Workforce Development, said of Ms. Joyner: "She is student-centered and always pushing us to be good stewards of our funds with a focus on what priorities could most benefit our students and increase levels of student success. Ms. Joyner is a superior employee and leader."

Ms. Joyner received her Bachelor's degree from Wingate University and her Master's degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
