SANFORD - Megan Blair, of Raleigh, is Central Carolina Community College's nominee for the Gov. Robert W. Scott Student Leadership Award sponsored by the N.C. Association of Community College Presidents.
This award, named for the former North Carolina governor who also served as president of the N.C Community College System, is designed to highlight outstanding curriculum student leadership and service.
Blair is a student in the CCCC Veterinary Medical Technology program.
"Megan is a bright student with fantastic leadership skills," says CCCC VMT Instructor Megan Kelly. "I feel that Megan embodies the spirit of leadership in academics."
Kelly noted that in addition to Blair's responsibilities as Vice President of the Student Chapter of the National Association for Veterinary Technicians in America and as a CCCC Student Ambassador, she also tutors other students during her free time "to ensure that her classmates are successful in their endeavors."
"Megan embodies not only the best in academics, but in leadership and community service," said CCCC President Dr. T. Eston Marchant.
Blair says of leadership: "To describe my leadership style succinctly, participatory is the adjective that resonates most strongly with me. I truly believe that a team is only as strong as its weakest link and that a cooperative effort needs to occur to produce success and stability. In situations where I have assumed a position of leadership, I have found that allowing all members of the team to make an impact, whether large or small, has improved morale and the quality of work."
