SANFORD -- Central Carolina area students participated in Central Carolina Community College's High Touch/High Tech Weekend Workshop on Robotics on Saturday, April 25th.

The students were instructed and guided by Sandra Castonguay, Electronics Engineering Technology Lead Instructor; Randall Griffin, Mentor-Engineering; David Pope, Laser & Photonics student, and Constance Boahn, Department Chair, Engineering and Computer Information Technologies.

Students built a light sensor line tracing snail robot. Upon completion, the students tested the robot for proper operation and competed against one another in a robot race.

Students attending the event were Eden Rothermund (Cape Fear Christian Academy); Jewel Dunlap (East Lee Middle School); Tanner Autry, Anson Everett, Braxton Norris, Nate Pearce, and Howie Pine (Harnett Central Middle School); Ian Cooke and Cody McCracken (Highland Middle School); Kaleb Taylor and Kaiya Wynee (Homeschooled); and Ylian Camacho (Overhills Middle School).
