CCCC offers variety of Continuing Education classes

SANFORD -- Central Carolina Community College is offering a variety of Continuing Education programs for the summer season.

Those programs include the Youth Enrichment Series with the following classes:

  • In Chatham County, Art Secrets for Kids (ages 9-14), Babysitter Certificate (ages 14 & up), Exercise Activity Day on the Pittsboro Trail (ages 11-13), Explore and Learn Summer Camp (ages 9-12), Healthcare Career Exploration (ages 11 & up), and Kids Cooking Camp (ages 5-7).
  • In Harnett County, Babysitter Certificate (ages 14 & up), Creative Speaking and Writing (ages 11-17), Entrepreneur Boot Camp (ages 11-17), Four Stories In Four Days (ages 11-13), and Healthcare Career Exploration (ages 11 & up).
  • In Lee County, Adventures in Mathematics and Reading (ages 5-7), Babysitter Certificate (ages 14 & up), Ballroom Dance (ages 9-11 and 11 & up), CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (ages 11-13), Culinary Teen Baking (ages 10-15), Culinary Teen Cooking (ages 10-15), Healthcare Career Exploration (ages 11 & up), Mathematics and Reading Refresher (ages 11-13), Reading Camp (rising first and second graders, ages 5-7), and Singer Songwriter (ages 11-13 and 14 & up).

In addition, a basketball camp and a football camp for ages 11-13 are being offered in Lee County.

All participants in the Summer Youth Enrichment Series must have an emergency medical form and YES registration form on file in the CCCC Continuing Education office no later than five days prior to the first day of class. The college offers a variety of courses, programs, and seminars in such areas as Alive at 25 & Defensive Driving, Artistry & Craftsmanship, College & Career Readiness, Computer Technology, Emergency Services Training, Health Occupations, Human Resources Development, Industry Services, Personal Interest, Professional Development, Small Business Seminars, Sustainable, and Sustainable Living Series.

Perhaps you've thought about pottery. There are classes with ceramic design, pottery glaze composition, and open clay studio.

There is a genealogy course, where students can learn how to discover their family tree and uncover their rich roots.

Students in the Natural Chef Certification course will learn culinary techniques, fundamentals of nutrition, and the connection between food, health and sustainability.

Those with dogs may want to consider a Beginning Dog Obedience class.

There are a variety of Computer Technology courses - Computers, Excel - Practical Applications, Microsoft Excel 2013, Microsoft Office 2010, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Word and Excel, and PowerPoint.

Registration is open for YES classes. Registration opens Tuesday, May 5, for medical classes and Wednesday, May 6, for all other classes. To register or for more information, call the Economic and Community Development Division (ECD) Student Support Center at 919-718-7500. The ECD Student Support Center is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday.
