SANFORD - Are you thinking about a career in law enforcement, business, or another field? If so, explore the possibilities at the Central Carolina Community College Career Fair.
The CCCC Career Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center, 1801 Nash St., Sanford. The Career Fair is geared toward CCCC students and alumni, and is open to the general public.
Mary Parker, CCCC Career Services Coordinator in Lee County, says this will be the larger Career Fair yet with more than 80 businesses, industries, and health services to be present. "They want to meet you - students and career seekers alike - in consideration for employment and career development opportunities they currently have available that might fit your professional needs," says Parker.
Among the companies and agencies to be represented at the Career Fair include Arden Companies, Boon Edam Inc., Caterpillar, Duke University Medical Center, GKN, N.C. State Highway Patrol, and Noble Oil Services.
CCCC students will seek out opportunities for full-time and part-time employment, as well as internships. The CCCC Career Services Center has held several workshops -- "Career Fair Etiquette and Network Strategies" and "The Art of Writing a Resume For a Career Fair" - to prepare students for the event.
There is no charge and no pre-registration for those attending the CCCC College Fair. However, participants are reminded to bring resumes and dress professionally (business casual).
The CCCC Career Services Center offers the following services: career and internship advising, online career assessment, career exploration, resume writing, interviewing etiquette, on-campus interviews, professional school counseling, and career resource library.
The CCCC Career Services Center is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday. To schedule an appointment or for more information, people can contact the Lee County Center at 919-718-7396, the Harnett County Center at 910-814-8834, or the Chatham County Center at 919-545-8054.
