Click to enlarge,  Central Carolina Community College student Jared Gibson (left), of Sanford, finished ninth in the nation in the precision machining competition at the June 25-27 SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference, in Kansas City, Mo. Gibson, pictured with instructor Edwin Thomas, graduates in August with an Associate in Applied Science in Machining Technology: Tool, Die & Mold Making. He has already been hired by GKN Driveline’s Precision Forming Plant, in Sanford. SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization working to ensure America has a skilled workforce.
