The ESTC hosted Truck and Transportation Day, an opportunity for the fourth and fifth graders to meet with people who use trucks or other vehicles in their jobs. Among those presenting at the event were Laura Lynn (left), sales representative, and Jimmy Jones (right), trainer, for Ready Mixed Concrete. They spoke about the work they do and the use of large vehicles, such as the cement truck (rear), to students (from left, front) Hayley Thomas, Hannah Austin, Xianys Nieves and Payge Martin; and (back) student mentor Steven Wright. The students enjoyed learning more about the big vehicle, how it is used and the people who work with it. The purpose of the day was to introduce students to a variety of careers in an interesting way they would enjoy and remember, encouraging them to stay in school and get a good education. The event was a joint effort of CCCC, Lee County Schools, and the agencies and businesses that took part.
