SANFORD — Four Central Carolina Community College students have been awarded $1,000 Biogen Idec Student Scholarships for the 2008-2009 academic year.
All are second-year students in the Bioprocess Technology degree program: Campbell Stubbs, of Angier; Mary Holt, of Broadway; William Heskett, of Sanford; and Robyn Burke, of Ramseur.
Biogen Idec, in Research Triangle Park, Raleigh, contributed $25,000 to the N.C. Community Colleges Foundation, Inc. for 25 scholarships for students in biotechnology or related programs. The scholarships are for $500 per semester. They must be expended for tuition, books, materials, or required course or lab equipment and protective gear. The students must maintain an overall 3.0 GPA for the scholarship.
Students at nine other community colleges were also recipients of the scholarships.
