High school high-tech summer camps at CCCC

SANFORD - Plan a high-tech summer of fun for your high school-age students with Central Carolina Community College’s Summer Camps for young people.

The Engineering Technology Department is offering camps in robotics and computer-aided design, and the Continuing Education Department is offering a camp on lasers. Participants must be rising ninth graders or age 15 or older.

Robotics Camp
The exciting and fun Robotics Camp will be offered in two locations: Monday, June 15, through Thursday, June 18, at the college’s Harnett County Campus, in Lillington; and Monday, June 22, through Thursday, June 25, at the Lee County Campus, in Sanford. Both sessions run 1 p.m.-5:30 p.m. The camp is limited to 12, so register soon. Participants will build their own working robot and learn about career opportunities in the engineering industry. Laser Technology Camp
High school-age students get hands-on with lasers and photonics at the Laser Technology Camp at the Harnett County Campus, in Lillington. It runs 8 a.m.-11 a.m., Monday, June 22, through Thursday, June 25. The camp teaches the importance of math and science, using examples from the field of laser technology. Participants will learn the fundamentals of lasers, tour the electronics and laser labs at the campus, and use a laser for engraving. The cost of the camp is $50. Computer-Aided Design Camp
Learn how to draw on a computer at the Computer-Aided Design Camp, 1 p.m.-3 p.m. Monday, July 13, through Thursday, July 16, at the college’s Lee County Campus, in Sanford. Participants must be at least 15 years old. They will learn to draw cars, houses, space shuttle, cartoon characters, and more on the computer. They will also explore career opportunities in this exciting field. Registration is $15. Make checks payable to the CCCC Foundation.
