SANFORD, N.C. - Chandler Patterson Ellis is the new volleyball coach at Central Carolina Community College.
Chandler's passion for volleyball ignited during her high school years at Lee County High School, where she was a four-year athlete. Her senior year she earned the prestigious title of Player of the Year. This passion led her to Campbell University, where she honed her craft while pursuing a degree in Sports and Exercise Sciences.
A daughter of Dawn and Reggie Patterson, along with siblings Savannah and Presley, Chandler's roots run deep in the community. Chandler is married to J.W. Ellis and they have a new bundle of joy, Gunnar Ellis.
For six years, Chandler poured her heart into coaching at the Lee County Volleyball Club, shaping young athletes and nurturing their love for the game. Now, she sees an opportunity to take her coaching to another level, to guide and inspire the players of CCCC to reach their full potential.
Chandler envisions a CCCC squad of dedicated athletes, united in their pursuit of excellence. "The team that I will strive to have at CCCC is a highly competitive and cohesive group of athletes that understands what it takes to compete and are willing to give all they have for their team," she explained. "As a team, they will learn responsibility, discipline, and determination that they will be able to use for the rest of their lives."
To the aspiring high school athletes in the area, Chandler extended an invitation, a promise of growth and camaraderie. "If you are willing to work hard and be a part of a team, then please get in touch with me," she urged. Her email address is: celli209@cccc.edu.
As she prepares for the upcoming season, Chandler can't help but feel a sense of gratitude for the journey that has brought her to this moment. She thanks all who have supported her along the way, her family, mentors, and the community that has shaped her into the person and coach she has become.
The CCCC volleyball season begins Aug. 20 with a match at Patrick & Henry Community College. The CCCC squad's home opener will be at 6 p.m. Aug. 27 versus Wake Technical Community College.
