LILLINGTON - The Central Carolina Community College Nursing program recently held a White Coat Ceremony at the Harnett Health Sciences Center in Lillington.

In 2014, the Arnold P. Gold Foundation, initiators of the first White Coat Ceremony, partnered with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing to recognize the science and compassion required of nursing excellence and to extend the White Coat Ceremony beyond physician medical programs to schools of nursing.

The cloaking ceremony was led by Practical Nursing instructors Chris Bailey, Crystal Bennett, Theresa Cebulski-Field, Melissa Guy, Tonia Howard, Emily Long, Christie McDougald, Carol Tarpey, and Sarah TenBrink.

Theresa Cebulski-Field, Practical Nursing Instructor, spoke on the significance of the "Humanism in Medicine" pin, which was a gift for each student from the Arnold P. Gold Foundation.

Bianca Raby, LPN, was motivational speaker for the event.

Dr. Barbara Campbell, Nursing Department Chair, had the welcome and closing remarks. The program included the recitation of the Nurse's Pledge. Christie McDougald, Program Director, introduced the motivational speaker. Crystal Bennett, Practical Nursing Instructor, had the opening prayer.
