CCCC TRiO Veterans Upward Bound to host College Exploration event

SANFORD, N.C. - Are you a veteran or transitioning service member? Drop-in or virtually join the Central Carolina Community College TRiO Veterans Upward Bound College Exploration event to learn how you can attend college. The event will be held Monday, June 27, from 1-5 p.m. at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic & Conference Center in Sanford, N.C.

Service opportunities at the event include:

  • Admissions to Central Carolina Community College.
  • Register for fall classes at Central Carolina Community College (must complete Residency Determination Service - RDS and apply to the college).
  • Financial Aid - FAFSA applications/Pell Grant.
  • VA Education Benefits.
  • Four-year universities.
  • NC Works.
  • Veterans Bridge Home.
  • Veterans Upward Bound.

"We are looking forward to hosting a College Exploration event where veterans and transitioning service members can explore different options and supports for pursuing higher education," said Dr. Jen Servi-Roberts, CCCC Director of Veterans Upward Bound and Military Affiliated Initiatives. "Attendees will receive assistance with how to pay for college (including VA Education Benefits and financial aid), applying and registering for classes at Central Carolina Community College, learning about four-year universities, and transitioning from military to college. NC Works, Veterans Bridge Home, and Veterans Upward Bound will be available as additional resources for our military community."
