CCCC men's cross country finishes first in Smith River Cross Country Classic

SANFORD - The Central Carolina Community College men's cross country team finished first in the College Men 8000-meter run in the Smith River Cross Country Classic in Martinsville, Va., on Saturday, Oct. 16.

CCCC finished ahead of Bluefield and Southwest Virginia Community College.

Top CCCC runners (with high school and hometowns listed) were 3. Britt Lehman (Jordan-Matthews H.S., Siler City), 4. Kyle Howarth (Woods Charter School, Mebane), 7. Gabriel Lenz (Lee Christian School, Sanford), 9. Kevin Cole (Grace Christian School, Sanford), 17. Colby Day (Cape Hatteras Secondary School, Frisco).

Coach Richard Briggs' CCCC team will next participate in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 10 Championship on Saturday, Oct. 30, at Patrick & Henry Community College in Martinsville, Va.

CCCC Women's Cross Country

The CCCC women's cross country team finished third in the College Women 5000-meter run in the Smith River Cross Country Classic in Martinsville, Va., on Saturday. Oct. 16.

Sweet Briar and Bluefield finished just ahead of the CCCC team.

Top CCCC runners (with high schools and hometowns listed) were 3. Bersai Perez (Lee County H.S., Sanford), 8. Kimberly Castro Vasquez (Harnett Central H.S., Lillington), 11. Charmaine Robison (Lumberton H.S., Lumberton), 14. Emilie Obregon (Triton H.S., Dunn), 15. Angelika Adriano (Pinecrest H.S., Aberdeen).
