SANFORD - The Central Carolina Community College Foundation's Virtual Superhero 5K event held this summer raised $1,000 to establish the Superhero emergency fund.

The Superhero emergency fund supports CCCC essential worker program students as they train to serve on the front lines of our communities. Essential students are those who are training/graduates of the CCCC Basic Law Enforcement Training, Emergency Medical Technician, Nursing, and other identified programs that train essential workers during a pandemic.

Nick Testa won the men's title with a time of 23:01 and Lydia Webb won the women's title with a time of 25:00.

Participants received a commemorative T-shirt upon completion of the 5K.

The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization affiliated with, but independent of, the college. It receives donations of money and equipment on behalf of CCCC and uses them to promote the educational mission of the college and assist students through scholarships and grants.

If you would like to make a contribution to the Superhero emergency fund to assist students or would like more information, contact Dr. Emily Hare, CCCC Foundation Executive Director, at ehare@cccc.edu.
