Free creative writing workshops to be held

SANFORD - Free creative writing workshops will be held Oct. 15-17. The workshops are sponsored by the Central Carolina Community College Academic and Cultural Enrichment Series and the National Endowment for the Arts.

The workshops will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Chatham Community Library in Pittsboro, Oct. 16 at the CCCC Lee Main Campus Library in Sanford, and Oct. 17 at the CCCC Harnett Main Campus Library in Lillington.

The workshops will be led by Christopher Massenburg, better known as Dasan Ahanu. A founder of Black Poetry Theatre, he is a writer, director, producer, and cast member. He is a resident artist with the St. Joseph's Historic Foundation / Hayti Heritage Center in Durham, where he has developed poetry and spoken word programming for youth and adults. Ahanu has released three full-length books of poetry and multiple spoken word recordings.
