Shanxi University dancers and musicians from the People's Republic of China delighted and thrilled an audience of about 600 with their performance in 2012 at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center. The Red Lantern dance depicts a lively spring festival in Shanxi Province. Central Carolina Community College's Confucius Classroom, in partnership with N.C. State University's Confucius Institute, sponsored the performance by professors and students from Shanxi University.
