Nick Mescia (right), manufacturing process documentation consultant at Sensus Metering, presents a Weller WX 1020 soldering system to Gary Beasley (left), Central Carolina Community College's lead Electronics Engineering/Laser and Photonics Technology instructor, July 11 at Sensus Metering's Morrisville plant. The system will enable Electronics Engineering students at CCCC's Harnett County Campus to hone their skills on the state-of-the-art system. Mescia won the unit as a door prize at the Surface Mount Technology Association's (SMTA) June 19 Carolinas Chapter Golf Tournament at The Neuse Golf Course in Clayton. He immediately decided to donate it to CCCC, where he has served on the Electronics Engineering Advisory Committee for almost 12 years. Kraydon Inc., representing Alpha Metals, donated solder when they found out the unit was to be given to CCCC. For information on CCCC programs, including Electronics Engineering, visit www.cccc.edu.
