Vets turn out for CCCC Veterans Upward Bound Appreciation Day

The day was a fun, family-friendly event at the Lee County Campus for veterans, as well as an opportunity for them to learn more about the services the program offers. Angela Letendre said VUB helped her start her college education. Now, she plans to enter the college's Associate Degree Nursing program in the fall. Former Army Human Resources specialist James Gott (second from left), of Carolina Trace, was among the veterans at Central Carolina Community College's Veterans Upward Bound Appreciation Day July 10 at the Lee County Campus. With the assistance of VUB advisors, he enrolled in an Associate in Arts program with the goal of transferring to a university for a degree in industrial design or architecture. Former Army Sgt. Isaac Phillips (left) of Chapel Hill, with his wife, Andrea Phillips, was among the veterans attending Central Carolina Community College's July 10 Veterans Upward Bound Appreciation Day at the Lee County Campus. Phillips served in Operation Enduring Freedom and other operations. With the assistance of VUB, he has enrolled and is now working on an Associate in Science degree.
