Duke Energy district manager Indira Everett (second from right) visited Sanford July 15 to present a $50,000 grant check to Central Carolina Community College for the Central Carolina Works initiative. Receiving the check on behalf of the college were (from left) Dr. Pamela Senegal, CCCC vice president of Economic and Community Development; CCCC President Dr. Bud Marchant; Emily Hare, CCCC Foundation and Development Office director; and Celia Hurley, CCCC vice president of Institutional Advancement. The CC Works initiative will place an advisor in each public high school in the college's service area of Chatham, Harnett and Lee counties. The advisors will assist students in enrolling, tuition-free, in CCCC classes related to their vocational or educational goals while still in high school. Duke Energy has also awarded the college a $233,950 grant for high technology workforce training. For more information about Central Carolina Works, visit www.cccc.edu/ccworks or contact Virginia Brown at 919-718-7370 or vbrown@cccc.edu. For information about the college and its programs, visit www.cccc.edu. Contributions to the Central Carolina Works initiative can be made to the CCCC Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization affiliated with, but independent of, the college. It receives donations of money and equipment on behalf of CCCC and uses them to promote the educational mission of the college and assist students through scholarships and grants. For information on giving to the Foundation, contact Emily Hare, CCCC Foundation and Development Office director, 919-718-7230 or ehare@cccc.edu.
