CCCC's Triangle South Workforce Development Board leads in unemployment fight

Rosalind Cross directs CCCC's Workforce Development Department, which is part of the college's Economic & Community Development Division. She is also director of the Triangle South Workforce Development Board. The TSWDB develops programs with community partners to assist youth, adults and dislocated workers in gaining workforce skills and finding employment. Cross is a former dislocated worker who was able to return to school with the help of a WIA program.

The Triangle South Workforce Development Board at Central Carolina Community College received the 2011 North Carolina Governor's Award for Excellence in Workforce Development-Innovative Partnership. The award was presented for partnering with Sampson Community College in an ammonia refrigeration workforce training program. The TSWDB works with community partners to assist youth, adults and dislocated workers in gaining workforce skills and finding employment. CCCC was the first community college in the state with a workforce development board office.
