Chatham celebrates college's 50th and green campus

Central Carolina Community College green construction students Cal Meggenson (front), of Pittsboro, and Jeff Klemm, of Hillsborough, raise a wall frame on the Chatham Cottage, a small energy efficient home being built at the college's Chatham County Campus. The in-construction home will be on view at CCCC's April 28 Chatham Celebration, at the Chatham Campus, 764 West St., Pittsboro, commemorating the college's 50th anniversary. The flag raising is at 7:45 a.m., 5K race at 8 a.m. and Kids' Fun Run, at 9 a.m. Free events start at 9 a.m. and run until about 1:30 p.m. Vendors will have food for sale. Later, acting and culinary students put on a three-comedy, three-course Comedy Dinner Theatre at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. in the Chatham Community Library. Tickets for the dinner theater are $16 and advance purchase is required at www.brownpapertickets.com or at the campus Administration Building.
