North Carolina Tobacco Trust Fund Commission leaders met with Central Carolina Community College officials April 26 to celebrate the importance of grants from the NCTTF to the college’s expansion of Continuing Education programs. Grants totaling $70,000, so far, from the NCTTF have helped to make possible two new Continuing Education programs at the college. The sustainable agriculture program at its West Harnett Center was established in 2009 with a $40,000 NCTTF grant. The Natural Chef culinary arts program, starting in the fall at its Chatham County Campus, is benefiting from a $30,000 NCTTF grant. The total was represented by a symbolic check at the celebration. Attending the meeting at the college’s Lee County Campus, in Sanford, were (from left) college trustee Doug Wilkinson Jr., Board of Trustees Chairman Bobby Powell, CCCC Harnett County Provost Bill Tyson, trustee Tony Lett, college President Bud Marchant, NCTTF Executive Director William Upchurch, NCTTF Board Chairman J. W. (Billie) Carter III, N.C. Rep. Jimmy Love Sr., CCCC Vice President of Economic & Community Development Stelfanie Williams, Vice President of Administrative Services Wayne Robinson, and trustees John Bonardi Jr. and Ed Garrison. NCTTF Programs Officer Jeff Jennings was at the celebration, but was not in the picture.
