Guided Pathways to Success

Informing the CCCC Strategic Plan

From where they are to where they want to go: Making a difference in student
success at CCCC

Guided Pathways to Success (NC-GPS)

Guided pathways is a new way of organizing student services support and advising to simplify the process from admission to completion. This is a way to remove barriers and maximize student success.

The Four Pillars

The four pillars of the guided pathways framework are:

  • Clarify path to
    student end goal
  • Help students choose
    and enter a pathway
  • Help students
    stay on path
  • Ensure that students
    are learning

What does this mean for CCCC?

Conversations surrounding Guided Pathways to Success have been happening nationwide as well as right here at CCCC. As our 2015-2019 Strategic Plan comes to an end, these conversations will help to inform CCCC's new strategic plan!

  • We will revisit the on-boarding processes
  • We will provide proactive intentional support
  • We will change the language from talking about programs to talking about careers
  • We will re-imagine the way students move through the academic and career planning process
  • We will build a vibrant culture of teaching and learning excellence in every classroom

What's Next?

We will be engaging in conversations and actively seeking feedback on ideas to help move the needle on student success.

If you have not already had a chance to provide feedback, please complete this form:

Our desire is for students to begin, complete and finish with as few interruptions as possible while taking into consideration flat tires along the way.

Want to Know More?

CCCC is a pilot college for the NC Guided Pathways to Success Network and has attended several institutes on various guided pathways topics. Reach out to one of the committee members for more information!

Through the GPS Project, we have worked to really see the CCCC experience through a student's eyes. What are the actual barriers, both academic and non-academic? Do students have a clear vision of their goals and how to get there? Are we helping students achieve those goals in the most efficient manner? It's a meaningful and intentional shift from preparing students for our college, to preparing our college for our students.

CCCC's NC GPS Committee

The committee is a recommending group that facilitates a changing culture to become a student ready college. This is viewed through the lens of the guided pathways framework and includes all people, processes, and experiences that impact a student in any way. This group will establish, share, and ensure key milestone points at scale for CCCC.

Guided Pathways (GPS) serves the same purpose as the GPS on most electronic devices, it helps get you to where you need to be faster and more reliably. It will save students two scarce resources, time and money.
