"... [I] plan to keep using them as a resource to help me increase my skills as a small business owner."
Caren Stuart has always been a crafty person who enjoyed making gifts for her friends, from earrings to decorated goblets. Her gifts were so popular that she decided to turn her hobby into a business.
Caren turned to Central Carolina Community College's Small Business Center to learn how to run a small business. She was particularly interested in the many seminars and workshops the Center offers for both aspiring entrepreneurs and established small businesses.
Caren launched her business, Convoluted Notions, in 2005 and it has seen continuous growth. Everything she sells is handcrafted by her and one-of-a-kind. Her creative workshop is in her Sanford home, but she sells online and at outlets in Sanford, Wake Forest, and Pleasant Garden.
She credits the Small Business Center with providing the knowledge to help her become successful.
"I've been delighted with the seminars and workshops that SBC offers," Caren said, then added with a smile, "I've taken lots of them at this point and plan to keep using them as a resource to help me increase my skills as a small business owner."
