"Oasis Spaces" Exhibit
During the month of August

"Oasis Spaces" is a traveling exhibit created by the North Carolina African American Heritage Commission. Eight vibrant panels showcase images of business owners, travelers, and historic and present-day images of North Carolina Green Book sites. Over 300 businesses in North Carolina were listed in the Negro Motorist Green Book which was published between 1936 and 1966. The exhibit highlights a complex statewide network of business owners and Green Book sites that allowed African American communities to thrive, and that created “oasis spaces” for African American travelers.

COUGAR PETS

Meet Venus

My name is Venus. I am a quiet and laid-back girl that can be shy at first, but after warming up to you I am very sweet. I like to spend most of my time looking out the window and playing with my toys - especially the ones that make a crinkling noise! I also enjoy watching "cat TV" and try to catch the mice on the screen.

Meet Button

My name is Button. I am a sweet little guy who is always excited to go on a walk. I love to play with toys, enjoy snuggling with my people, and like long naps in the sun. I am nervous about strangers and loud noises but gain some confidence with the help of yummy treats. I love to be where my people are. Come meet me today!
