Welcome

For fifty years, Central Carolina Community College has educated and enriched the communities it serves and the lives of the individuals in them.

Join us as we celebrate our 50th anniversary from July 2011 through June 2012 with exciting events, activities, and speakers.

Central Carolina Community College was born from the vision of local leaders who wanted quality educational opportunities for the people of their community. Then known as the Lee County Industrial Education Center, it offered its first class in the summer of 1961. The first building was completed in 1962 on what became the Lee County Campus.

From that small beginning, the college has grown until it enrolls many thousands of students each year in university transfer, vocational and technical, continuing education, basic skills, lifelong learning, business ownership, and industry workforce training programs. It is also home to Lee Early College, where students can earn both a high school diploma and an associate degree.

The facilities have increased from one building to three campuses and multiple centers serving residents, businesses, and industries in Chatham, Harnett, and Lee counties.

Along the way, we have led the state - and sometimes the nation - in developing and offering leading-edge programs, from sustainable agriculture to laser and photonics technology.

We have become a major cultural resource, as seen in our award-winning theater productions. Our Confucius Classroom helps prepare students for the global economy and brings international cultural events to our area.

Central Carolina Community College has had a splendid past. We thank all those who dreamed so big, led so ably, and worked so hard to build and support the college, its programs, and students.

At this half-century milestone, we look forward to an even more magnificent future.

Central Carolina Community College will continue to empower people for success in the workforce or the university; serve as a catalyst for personal, community, and economic development; and provide extraordinary cultural enrichment.

Please join us this year for our ongoing celebratory journey through the past and into the future.

Sincerely,
