SANFORD - Central Carolina Community College has signed four individuals to join its men's basketball program.

The signees are high school teammates Jamar Butler and Darnell Carver, of Western Harnett High School, as well as Larry Barnes, of Metrolina Christian Academy in Indian Trail, and Russell Bradley, of Carver High School in Winston-Salem.

"I expect big things from both Darnell and Jamar," said CCCC Men's Basketball Coach Brad McDougald regarding the Western Harnett duo. "Both kids are very coachable. They both come from a fantastic and solid background, and are good student-athletes.

"Darnell is a scoring point guard who can also defend well. He will bring a lot of intensity, which our team really thrives on and needs," said McDougald. "Jamar is a shooting guard who also will have a chance to step right in and be a major contributor to the program. Jamar shoots the ball really well, and has an outstanding IQ for the game.

"Larry comes from a good program, and I am counting on him to come in and be a glue-type player," said Coach McDougald. "He is a good team guy. Larry does everything asked of him. He is also a good student and comes from a good foundation. I look forward to developing him as a player and young man to further his path.

"Russell Bradley is a guard who can handle the ball and score as well. He is a good defender," said Coach McDougald. "Russell has a high basketball IQ and I expect him to come in and make an immediate impact."
