SANFORD - The Central Carolina Community College Foundation announces the establishment of the Raymond C. and Carolyn G. Carter Endowment. Their son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Libby Carter of Pinehurst, are endowing the fund.
"My parents, especially my mom, really saw the value of an education. Although they were children of the Depression and did not have the same opportunities of today's generation, I know that they would be so proud to help others achieve to their fullest ability," said Steve Carter. "It is an honor for Libby and me to establish this scholarship in their memory and to know that through this, their dreams will live on."
The endowment will fund scholarships for students with the following preferences: 1. Moore County high school graduate. 2. Nursing or University Transfer. 3. Must show need and academic achievement.
"It is our honor to have the Carters start this endowment with us," said Emily Hare, CCCC Foundation Executive Director. "Since Mrs. Carter is a member of the school board in Moore County and a lifelong educator, she understands the value and importance of higher education on our communities. They invested in CCCC because they know education can greatly impact the life of an individual and, in turn, through this support, they are helping us change the lives of our students."
The CCCC Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization affiliated with, but independent of, Central Carolina Community College. It receives donations of money and equipment on behalf of the college and uses them to promote its educational mission and assist students through scholarships and grants.
