CCCC salutes Trustee Donnie Oldham

08.03.2016 • College & Community, College General, Foundation

SANFORD - Donnie Oldham, of Sanford, was honored for his service to Central Carolina Community College's Board of Trustees before the Trustees' meeting on Wednesday, July 20.

Oldham, who had served on the board since 2015, said he enjoyed his time on the board. "I enjoyed it, and maybe down the road I can come back on," said Oldham, who is Chairman of the Sanford Area Growth Alliance. "Thank you for accepting me. It's been good. It's a great board, and great school as everyone knows."

Oldham, President of Sanford Contractors, has noted that CCCC's values mirror those of his company in a lot of ways. "They believe that each student should receive an educational experience steeped in excellence. Each student not only receives an education but they are also taught values that we, at Sanford Contractors, value in our own team members -- integrity, a sense of community, and that if you are willing to put forth an effort, the reward is success," said Oldham.

In April, the Trustees voted to name the College's Engineering Technology Program in honor of Sanford Contractors.

Julian Philpott, Chairman of the CCCC Board of Trustees, said that Oldham has been dedicated for a number of years through his work with the College's Foundation. "He's been dedicated to making Central Carolina Community College the place to come when we're looking for innovative job training programs and for job creation," said Philpott.

"Donnie, we can't thank you enough for everything that you have done for this College in the year as a Trustee -- what you have done in the past and what we know you're going to continue to do," said Philpott. "We really very much appreciate what you've meant and what you continue to mean for Central Carolina Community College."

CCCC President Dr. T. Eston Marchant said that Oldham would remain on the Foundation Board. "Donnie, it has been a real pleasure," said Marchant. "You're just a pillar of the community and the College is proud that you served us as a Trustee."
