SANFORD - Twenty-two Central Carolina Community College Basic Law Enforcement Training cadets graduated during May 18 exercises at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center.
Members of the graduating day class were Matthew G. Carter of Sanford, Karson G. Cole of Sanford, Catherine M. Dean of Dunn, Juliana Dominguez of Sanford, Brandon G. Earl of Sanford, Leah R. Farr of Raleigh, William T. Gilchrist of Lillington, Daniel G. Holmes of Sanford, Daniel T. Jackson of Pittsboro, Jason A. Kane of Garner, Christopher P. Little of Sanford, Richard J. Lorenz of Cary, Matthew R. Warrick of Raleigh, and Michael E. Weaver of Lillington.
Members of the graduating evening class were Adrian A. Alcantara of Sanford, Matthew P. Ansbro of Sanford, Noah A. Frazier of Goldston, Percy L. Grady of Dunn, Chelsea A. McGuire of Sanford, Matthew V. Matos of Lillington, Thomas W. Swartzlander Jr. of Lillington, and Scott P. Weston of Sanford.
Several of the graduates were recognized for outstanding achievement during their training. Recognized from the day class were: Most Improved Physical Fitness - Matthew Carter; Fastest Police Officers Physical Abilities Test (POPAT) - Chase/ Apprehension - Michael Weaver; Fastest Police Officers Physical Abilities Test (POPAT) - Rescue - Daniel Jackson; Jimmy Collins Top Gun Award - Daniel Holmes; Highest Course Grade Point Average - Daniel Jackson; and Highest State Exam - Daniel Jackson. Office Benson D. Wise, of the City of Sanford Police Department, and Captain C. Brian Estes, of the Lee County Sheriff's Office, delivered the graduation remarks. Jason A. Kane (day class) and Scott P. Weston (evening class) presented the class response.
The college's BLET program is under the direction of Robert Powell, who awarded graduation certificates along with Lt. Kenneth W. Lee, Retired.
Sponsoring agencies for the day BLET class were the Chatham County Sheriff's Office, City of Sanford Police Department, Dunn Police Department, Lee County Sheriff's Office, Lillington Police Department, N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Town of Broadway Police Department, and Vass Police Department.
