CCCC will host Veterans Resources Fair

03.21.2016 • College & Community, College General

SANFORD - Central Carolina Community College will host a Veterans Resources Fair on Wednesday, March 30, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center in Sanford. The event is open to veterans in the college's service area of Chatham, Harnett, and Lee counties.

The event is a grassroots, community-based intervention program designed to help homeless and non-homeless veterans living in the area.

All veterans will be provided access to the community resources needed to begin addressing their individual situations and rebuilding their lives. In the military, Stand Down afforded battle-weary soldiers the opportunity to renew their spirit, health, and overall sense of well-being. The Veterans Resource Fair affords the same opportunity to both homeless and non-homeless veterans.

Caring volunteers and professionals will give of their time and expertise to address the unique needs of veterans. Veteran service organizations, National Guard and Reserve units, Department of Defense Active Duty units, homeless shelter programs, health care providers, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Labor staffs, veteran-helping-veteran programs, churches, food banks, and concerned citizens from the community organizations will be present to assist.

Those who would like to take part in the event or who would like more information can contact Timothy K. Peedin, CCCC Veterans Upward Bound Director, at 919-718-7539 or by email at tpeedin@cccc.edu.
