SANFORD - Twelve individuals recently graduated from the Central Carolina Community College Basic Law Enforcement Training program. The graduation was held Dec. 17, 2015, at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center in Sanford.
Guest speaker was Benson D. Wise of the City of Sanford Police Department. The class response was by Jonathan K. Dorman, Class Leader.
Members of the graduating class were Carla Ann Porterfield of Carrboro; Justin Ryan McLeod of Coats; Kassie Amber Moore of Durham; Stephen Thomas Diggs of Fuquay-Varina; Nicholas Brian Robbins of Holly Springs; Charles Holden Broyhill and Carol Meritt Lewis of Raleigh; Mitchell Thomas Coggins, Jonathan Kyle Dorman, Devin Dwight Layne, and Nathan Bradley Snyder of Sanford; and William David Cockman of Siler City.
Special honors were presented to Justin Ryan McLeod, Most Improved Physical Fitness; Nicholas Brian Robbins, Best Police Officer Physical Agility Test (POPAT) - Apprehension; Nathan Bradley Snyder, Best Police Officer Physical Agility Test (POPAT) - Rescue; Devin Dwight Layne, Jimmy Collins Top Gun Award; and Charles Holden Broyhill, Highest Grade Point Average and Highest State Exam.
Robert W. Powell, Director of the CCCC BLET program, awarded the graduation certificates and presented closing remarks.
The Chatham County Sheriff Office had the presentation of colors. The welcome was by Dr. Stephen Athans, CCCC's Dean of Vocational and Technical Programs.
