CCCC graduates six from BLET evening training program

SANFORD -- Six Central Carolina Community College Basic Law Enforcement Training cadets received their graduation certificates May 20 at exercises at the Emergency Services Training Center. All were members of the 2014-15 BLET evening training program under the direction of Lt. Kenny Lee, Harnett County Sheriff's Office (ret.).

Receiving their certificates were Ashley Nicole Giles, Jerod James Kirk, and Daniel James Thomas, all of Sanford; Dominique Mechelle York, of Carrboro; Tito Ricardo Frink, of Fuquay-Varina; and Rischetta Vancette White, of Siler City.

Several of the graduates were recognized for outstanding achievement during their training: Most Improved Physical Fitness - Ashley Nicole Giles; Fastest Police Officers Physical Abilities Test (POPAT) - Tito Ricardo Frink; Jimmy Collins Top Gun Award - Jerod James Kirk; and Highest Course Grade Point Average and Highest State Exam - Daniel James Thomas.

Lt. C. Brian Estes, of the Lee County Sheriff's Office, delivered the graduation remarks. Class Leader Daniel J. Thomas gave the class response.

The college's BLET program is under the direction of Robert Powell. All graduates are qualified to be certified law enforcement officers in North Carolina.

Sponsoring agencies for the evening BLET class were the Lee County Sheriff's Office, Town of Broadway Police Department, and UNC Hospitals Police Department.
