CCCC Foundation Golf Classic coming to Chatham

03.09.2015 • College & Community, College General, Foundation, Special Events

PITTSBORO - Golfers, grab your clubs for a day of fun and fellowship for a good cause as the Central Carolina Community College Foundation hosts its Second Annual Chatham County Golf Classic on Wednesday, May 13, at Chapel Ridge.

Since 1989, the Foundation has hosted an annual Golf Classic in Lee County, raising funds for scholarships and other financial assistance for the college's students, regardless of their county of residence. During that time, more than $500,000 was raised, assisting hundreds of students in affording their college education.

For the second year, the Foundation is hosting two additional Golf Classics: in Harnett County on Thursday, March 19, and in Chatham County on Wednesday, May 13. Proceeds from each tournament will benefit CCCC students from the county where the tournament is held. Last year, approximately $10,000 was raised at the first Chatham County Golf Classic.

"CCCC is one of the best community colleges in the country because of our success in job training for local citizens," said George Lucier, of Pittsboro, Foundation President. "The Chatham County Golf Classic is a great chance to have fun, play golf at Chapel Ridge and support the many needs of CCCC focused on economic development and job training. We hope to see a great turnout on May 13."

Lunch will be served at 1 p.m., with the shotgun start is 9 a.m.

The format for the Chatham County Golf Classic is four-person Captain's Choice Flighted. Players will be flighted based on their handicaps. Top teams in each flight will receive prizes. There will also be contests for longest drive, closest-to-pin, and putting.

Sponsorships are available at various levels: $200 Silver Sponsor includes sponsorship recognition; $600 Gold Sponsor includes one foursome and sponsorship recognition; and $1,000 Platinum Sponsor includes two foursomes and sponsorship recognition.

"We are so grateful for the support we have received in Chatham County," said Emily Hare, Executive Director of the CCCC Foundation. "Chatham County has given so much to us and we will use all funds raised in the tournament to go directly back to our students, faculty, and staff in Chatham County. We look forward to the event and hope everyone will come out and join us!"

The Chatham County Golf Classic registration form can be downloaded from the Foundation's web site, www.cccc.edu/foundation/
