SANFORD - Fifteen individuals recently graduated from the Central Carolina Community College Basic Law Enforcement Training program. The graduation was held Dec. 18, 2014, at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center in Sanford.
Guest speaker was Lt. C. Brian Estes of the Lee County Sheriff Office. The class response was by Justin R. Thomas, Class Leader.
Special honors were presented to Carson H. Perry of Lillington, Most Improved Physical Fitness; Justin R. Thomas of Sanford, Fastest Police Officer Physical Agility Test (POPAT); Brandon D. Havens of Siler City, Jimmy Collins Top Gun Award; and Jonathan M. Moore of West End, Highest Grade Point Average and Highest State Exam.
Members of the graduating class were Mitchell Ethan Lanphier, of Dunn; Yuridia Bahena-Ocampo, of Erwin; Carson Hunter Perry, of Lillington; Dexter Ray Jarmon and Kelly Forrest Rhyne, of Pittsboro; Samuel Alexander Macinsky, of Raleigh; Matthew Franklin Cotten, Shawn Christopher Cronin, Omari Tahir Geiger, Andrew Joseph Holder, William Daniel Holder, Jonathon Michael Ross, and Justin Ryan Thomas, of Sanford; Brandon Douglas Havens of Siler City; and Jonathan Mark Moore, of West End.
Robert W. Powell, Director of the CCCC BLET program, awarded the graduation certificates and presented closing remarks.
The Chatham County Sheriff Office had the presentation of colors. Captain Tony R. Hancox of the Sanford Police Department delivered the invocation. The welcome was by Dr. Stephen Athans, CCCC's Dean of Vocational and Technical Programs.
