PITTSBORO - Eighty-two runners, from children to age 60+, turned out on April 13 for the Central Carolina Community College Foundation's 5-K Rabbit Run at the college's Chatham County Campus. The race started at the campus, wound through Pittsboro and ended back at the campus.
The Rabbit Run is an annual CCCC Foundation event that raises money for student scholarships and academic equipment. It also provides an opportunity to get in some healthy exercise, enjoy nature and renew old acquaintances.
Luis Majano, 20, of Broadway, took first place in the Top Males Overall Division with a course time of 18 minutes and 32 seconds. Brooks Holt, 15, of Pittsboro, was the Top Overall Female, posting a time of 26 minutes and 41 seconds.
Other winners, by age bracket, were:
20-29 Bracket: Male - Zachary Ducker, of Lillington, 23:40; Female - Shalon Matthews, of Sanford, 32:31;
30-30 Bracket: Male - Paul Llovio, of Southern Pines, 22:05; Female - Jennifer Adams, of Pittsboro, 28:05;
40-40 Bracket: Male - Simon Sawyer, of Chapel Hill, 22:47; Female - Esther Shrader, of Sanford, 28:21;
50-59 Bracket: Male - Clint Bryan, Jr., of Pittsboro, 19:59; Female - Maureen Farrington, of Sanford, 31:18;
60+ Bracket: Male - Geoffrey Marshall, of Pittsboro, 27:32; Female - Lindy Parr, of Pittsboro, 31:32.
Three boys under 10 years old participated in the race, posting impressive times:
Ruben Terrell, 27:30, Nathan Terrell, 25:33, and Jackson Adams, 28:05, all of Pittsboro.
