Local Author, CCCC Instructor at Ucross Retreat

PITTSBORO - Chatham County author Marjorie Hudson is a Writer-in-Residence at Ucross Retreat in Wyoming during October.

Hudson teaches creative writing in Central Carolina Community College's Creative Writing Certificate Program.

She will work on a new novel while at the retreat. The Ucross Fellowship for the retreat was awarded by the Ucross Foundation, PEN-New England, and the Hemingway Foundation as part of their recognition for Hudson's short story collection, "Accidental Birds of the Carolinas."

In 2012, Hudson was a North Carolina Arts Council Fellowship winner and also received a PEN/Hemingway Honorable Mention for Distinguished First Fiction. Her writing has been published widely in literary journals and has won many honors,. She has been editing and coaching writers for 30 years, and now leads writing classes at colleges, conferences, festivals, cafes, and her own Kitchen Table Workshops.

The Ucross Foundation mission is to foster fresh and innovative thinking in the visual arts, literature, and music by providing residencies, work space and uninterrupted time to individual artists, writers, and composers. The Foundation supports Residents whose work reflects a depth of individual creative exploration and the potential for significant future accomplishments.
