SANFORD - Large and small businesses interested in being team partners on federal construction contracts are invited to the Consolidated Federal Construction Teaming Forum. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 8, at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center, 1801 Nash St., Sanford.
Registration is required and will close when the event reaches capacity. To register, go to www.ncmbc.us/5_8ConsolidatedFEDCONTeamingForum.php. Register early to ensure a space. Check-in will begin at 8:30 a.m. the day of the event. If spaces are still available, late registration will take place then.
The forum will showcase out-of-state general contractors looking for North Carolina subcontractors and suppliers. They will brief those attending on their companies, types of work they are pursuing, types of trades/subcontractors needed, small business efforts, and contact information. The forum will also provide an opportunity for in-state, multiple-award contract holders to connect with large and small business teaming partners.
Both out-of-state and in-state general contractors will be available at designated networking tables to discuss teaming opportunities with specialty contractors, suppliers, design firms and other companies in attendance.
These include, but are not limited to, the following divisions: general requirements, finishes, site construction, specialists, concrete, equipment, masonry, furnishes, metals, special construction, woods & plastics, conveying systems, thermal and moisture, mechanical, doors and windows, and electrical.
The North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC), Central Carolina Community College and its Small Business Center, Sanford Area Chamber of Commerce, Lee County Economic Development Corporation, and the Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) are sponsoring this event.
"This teaming forum will provide North Carolina general and specialty contractors, suppliers and designers an unprecedented opportunity to connect with prime contractors doing millions of dollars of federal construction work in our state," said Scott Dorney, NCMBC executive director. "Small businesses from around the state should leverage this unique opportunity to grow their construction business for the remainder of 2012 and beyond."
Participating general contractors and current federal contract holders are: Whiting-Turner, Mortenson Construction, Sundt Construction, Walbridge Construction, Turner Construction, Hourigan Construction, Barnhill Construction/SFL+A Architects, Gurlitz Architects/Tyler Construction, and, IAP Leopardo.
