CCCC Basic Law Enforcement graduates 16

SANFORD – Central Carolina Community College’s Basic Law Enforcement Training program graduated 16 cadets in a ceremony Dec. 16 at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center. 

The cadets had completed 624 hours of law enforcement training, 12 weeks of physical training, and passed a comprehensive four-hour written exam administered by the N.C. Criminal Justice Training and Standards Division.

Those graduating were: Garland Coffer, William Youngblood, Matthew Watson, Joshua Blackburn, David Meszaros, and Robert Holder, all of Sanford; Travis McCosley and Barrie Robinson, both of Broadway; Jamie Byrd and David Hornsby, both of Lillington; Paul Veling, of Angier; Andrew Freeman, of Siler City; Gregory Powers, of Vass; Antoine Thomas, of Willow Springs; Richard Mussi, of Syracuse, N.Y.; and Morgan Kidwell, of Gordonsville, Va.

Awards were presented for outstanding performance during training: Top Physical Fitness and Motivation Award - Mussi, Best POPAT (Police Officers Physical Abilities Test) - Coffer, Top Gun Marksmanship - Blackburn, and Academic Excellence - McCosley.
 
Trooper Michael D. Baker of the N.C. State Highway Patrol addressed the graduating cadets. Baker graduated from the college’s BLET program in 1999 and is currently a BLET instructor for the college. He started his law enforcement career as a Harnett County deputy, then trained to be a state trooper. He has served as a trooper in both Cumberland and Harnett counties.
